Description
#201406127566 - Headed to Badlands National Park to photo the full moon rising above the formations. As the moon was rising, I took a look behind me and wasn't quite sure what it was that I was seeing. It looked like a sundog, but it's not often that I see sundogs in June. They are seen quite often in bitter cold winter weather here in the Dakotas. After some research, it appears that this beautiful light was, indeed, a sunset sundog (or parhelia). So instead of spending all of my time photographing the moonrise, I took a few shots of the sundogs. Glad that I did, they disappeared into the sunset in about ten minutes.
